Eden.eden — Garden of Desires C.N. was developed during Javi Acevedo’s architecture studies at HafenCity Universität Hamburg as part of a large interdisciplinary collaboration activating the City Nord park during a public anniversary programme. Students from architecture, performance, and music transformed the park into a temporary landscape of spatial interventions and performative environments.
Within this collective framework, Acevedo contributed to the development and realisation of an installative structure that marked an early exploration of adaptable spatial practice. Initially constructed in the City Nord park, the installation later underwent a process of dismantling, relocation, and reconstruction at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). The need to transport and reconfigure the existing materials introduced a new layer of design thinking — adapting the structure to a different site within a single day of collaborative work.
During its second iteration, the installation became the subject of a bachelor thesis exploring atmospheric transformation through light and fog, resulting in a series of photographs that now mark the beginning of Acevedo’s artistic engagement with spatial installations. Rather than presenting a finished object, Eden.eden stands as an early experiment in building environments that can shift, travel, and evolve through collective action.
