Seek Common Ground — “How to temple?” was the first experimental media format developed within the LU’UM collective in response to The Temple of Artifice, a performative project by artist [M] Dudeck staged in St. Katharinen Church in Hamburg’s Altstadt. Following the performance, an intense public conversation emerged between pastor Frank Engelbrecht, the artist, and members of the collective, addressing the role of spaces that transcend traditional boundaries between religion, belief, art, and urban life.
In order to make this exchange accessible beyond the immediate audience, the discussion was re-staged as an immersive vodcast. Rather than using a static interview setup, the recording employed a performative camera movement that transformed the conversation into a spatial experience, blurring the line between documentation and performance.
The format brought together perspectives from urban practice, artistic experimentation, and spiritual discourse, focusing on the search for common ground across seemingly distant positions. Through its hybrid staging, the project explored how media formats can function as gathering spaces — enabling dialogue and shared reflection even beyond the physical site of the original event.
